![]() ![]() I will be covering the Custom End G Code in the next video as this first video on the subject was getting long due to having to cover the basics of G Code and the differences in the slicers. Please note that, apart from Slic3r, support and documentation from the slicers is poor to non-existent. That list of Slic3r, Simplif圓D & Cura common placeholder variables is here. I also mention a list of some common placeholder variables that can be inserted in custom G Code – to be replaced during export with settings from your profiles. This lists pretty much all the commands you are likely to come across in a G Code file. ![]() I refer to the RepRap Wiki page on G Code, which can be found here. So I created a video, linked above, detailing where custom start G Code can be set in Slic3r, Simplif圓D & Cura, together with a description of the kind of things to look out for and insert in this start G Code. I explained that Start G Code is fairly unique to a specific printer and the user’s requirements. This should give interesting results for anything with a non-level flat roof or top, as well as for any non-flat top sides.I recently received a message from a subscriber who was having issues with their starting G Code and asking if I could send mine to them. ![]() 25mm height, and the Adaptive feature reduced the. I used it for one of my money prints which has a hemispherical top, using a minimum height of. This makes the top look Much smoother and less 3D printed. I had been manually setting layer heights to achieve the same effect, but this feature does it so much better that this is the best print I've seen for this piece in two years of making them. It will reduce the layer height down to the minimum you specify for the extruder. 25mm height, and the Adaptive feature reduced the top layers heights so beautifully that the top doesn't look much more granular or layered than the vertical sides. ![]() You can't go wrong with getting S3D, there's lots of settings to get the printer going just right. The PET vase mode is great with transparent filament. It will reduce the layer height down to the minimum you specify for the extruder. The trick is combining infill every other layer making parts at 100 microns with print times a little longer than 200 microns. The Adaptive feature means that if you have an object with a rounded peak, Slic3r will gradually reduce the layer height as it reaches the crown, in order to reduce the width of the exposed edges as you get to the top.
